Message Because I really don't give a shit anymore about what they do in wasting their money, rushing too fast or whatever. I post a lot less because it falls on deaf (and dumb) ears. However, you're a semi-local who apparently built a pretty nice car in your own garage that probably shocked everyone that saw it when it was done. I salute you for that.

Still, going apeshit from big turbo to huge bigger turbo is something many people regret. Especially when they have never really got everything "perfect" and working properly with their existing setup. It's the quick road to your Z being on the road maybe a month or two a year, your bank account being drained or as with many people who have done it, a Z that is sold and gone. I've been here a long ass time and I've seen it happen time and time again. When you're making power upwards of 650RWHP with a "new to the scene" turbo setup and and drag racing, there are so many other costs and concerns you run into. I hope, at the very least, you have a tow vehicle and a year-round spot for the Z to be torn apart. That's a must if you're going to run a race vehicle.

I can't speak for the East Coast guys at the top of the drag game but I can tell you what I've seen on the West. The road to 9s has been hell on people as we find out the limits of stock Z parts. We're not just talking about obvious things like manifolds and pistons but driveline issues, odd boost problems with fuel delivery, you name it. When you're not breaking parts and in the shop, you're pulling your hair out trying to find small things that keep you running similar times to everyone else. Sometimes you're waiting on a special wastegate from Japan that's backordered for 8 months or you're waiting for some new design of manifold to fit your needs. Email Zo sometime and ask him how much he's been able to drive his car in the last five years. That guy has his picture next to the word "patience" in the dictionary.

Now to stop being "Dad" here. If after what I'm saying you're still dead-set on it, then you're either hard-headed or you're a complete Z freak (I'm hoping the latter =). So if you have a shitload of disposable income to spend on a 17 year old Nissan to make it go fast down a short, paved road a few times every month, even though the car may be broken more than running and may deplete your bank account, then go for it. If you truly love this car and are ready for the headaches, the downtime, and the hair-pulling, then more power to you sir. I, more than anyone, love to see quick Zs.

Either way, good luck!
